New Painting for a New House

Image
Hey guys, we bought a house and are moving in today! Handsome Bryce got a great job in California so we moved down here about a month ago. We have been living in a little apartment waiting for escrow to close and it is all finally happening! In the meantime I have been working on projects for our house. Bryce and I have always agreed that we wanted to decorate our house with our own artwork, but up until now we didn't have much wall-space. In honor of all our new wall space I have been working on a couple of paintings. I found this fantastic oval frame at the thrift store with a canvas inside. Canvas is kind of expensive so I like to buy thrift store paintings and just paint over them. Try to find one without thick paint globs, if there are a few gobs you can probably very carefully sand them off. Next I used painters tape to block off the gold rim, and painted the frame turquoise. You could just do one coat if you wanted it to look really distressed. I did another coat over this t...

30 Day Shred Level 2 Day 2

Image
Handsome Bryce and I were once reading a book together where the author said one of the characters gave a "mirthless laugh." We discussed at length what that would sound like, and now I know. It would sound like Jillian, the woman who knows no mirth. She laughs exactly twice during this workout, and in both instances it is an identical, sardonic, staccato sound, that hits you like two punches in the face. This leads me to suspect Jillian is either an alien or robot, trying to imitate human emotions and actions. That's why she is never out of breath.

Jillian Michaels Level 2, Day 1

Hello friends! We moved to California, so I have been pretty busy. Too busy for the blog, and too busy for Jillian Michaels. I am now back on the wagon though and have started Level 2 of the 30 day shred. The first time through is the worst, (I hope). It is terrible because you have no idea how many more exercises there are, and Jillian keeps giving you false hope: "That's IT for strength!" "Almost done!" "This is our last minute of cardio!"  Lies. All of it, lies. When she says these things she means you are done until she makes you do it all again in 2 minutes. Rude. The worst though, is her inability to count correctly. I think this is common for exercise instructors. Either they can't count, or it is some kind of mind game where they tell you there are two more but then they make you do an extra rep by yelling "last one!" after you have already done two more. Why Jillian? Do you think this trick will motivate me to plumb down into m...
