Football Photoshoot Yesterday Bryce took some pictures of McBaby. Be warned, your head might explode by over exposure to adorable. I wanted them with a football because of this cute picture of Handsome Bryce, back when he was Ickle Babykins Bryce: Also my mom has this picture of my little brother from back when he was a baby: Now I can have a collection of my favorite boys with footballs.

In Which I am not Funny at All I was recently talking with a good friend who I hadn't seen in ages. I told her about a friend who was flooding me with every kind of pro-gay link, web sites, groups, comics, jokes, sheesh it was getting overwhelming. I laughed because, dude, I get it. You're gay. It's not really that interesting to me, and really it's not like it came as a shock either. I'm not always telling you about my straightness, can we talk about something else besides your gayness? But then I saw two things that made me think. The first was a picture of this billboard regarding Amendment 64 in Colorado: This type of campaigning doesn't sit well with me because it is passive-aggressive. The group is asking you to pass judgement on a person so that they can criticize you for being judgmental, either that or just agree with them. The second thing I saw was this video. Petits Fours This Saturday was a really special day! My niece, Maddy, got baptized ! Children who are born into the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, (Mormons) don't get baptized and become official members until they are 8 years old. This is because we don't believe that children begin to be accountable for their choices until this age, as I mentioned before . Maddy is a fun girl who likes pretty things, animals, and wrestling with her dog. I thought petits fours would be a fun treat for after the baptism. I had never made them before but I followed the directions on this site . They were fairly easy*, although I didn't realize that her pan was smaller than a normal full jellyroll pan, so I ended up having to make two cakes and a filling to put between them, otherwise they would have been "trop courte fours" . (I just made that up, is it a thing? I am deciding it is a thing.) Also the poured fondant was not extremely difficult*, but you definitely have...

Yesterday was Haley's Birthday I tried to get a picture of her with the cake, and I got a lot of them, but Haley has some crazy ability to blink every single time you snap a picture, so her eyes are not open in any of them: blink Kind of blink blink blink blink blink Blink! Whatever. Here is the cake from the inside! It was zebra! Sara told me about it and I used the technique on this website. It was a surprise, so Haley didn't know that she color coordinated her dress with the cake. Too bad I didn't get a picture with her eyes open! Or did I??? Happy birthday Haley!

Downton Abbey Handsome Bryce and I got hooked on Downton Abbey on Netflix. The trouble with Netflix shows is that you get used to having them handy whenever you want, and now that we have caught up with the show we have to wait and wait for new episodes to come out. Laughing Baby McBaby started laughing a month ago. The trouble is, he is incredibly distrustful of cameras. He will be playing with Handsome Bryce, laughing and laughing, but as soon as I pop in with the video camera: He will clam up mid-giggle! Then he will just stare at the camera and not make a peep until I put it away. But it turns out that McBaby has not yet learned that people can take videos with their cell phones.
